Cofton wins two major awards

Cofton Holidays has scooped two awards for its commitment to wildlife conservation and the holiday park industry.

The campsite, near Dawlish in south Devon, received the two accolades that recognise not only its sustained conservation efforts over the past two centuries, but its long-standing commitment to the tourism and hospitality industry.

The family-run business has become one of just a handful of UK businesses to be awarded the Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award for the twentieth year running.

This special award recognises Cofton’s sustained activity to protect wildlife and enhance the landscape of the campsite, which features carefully considered planting, extensive woodland, wildlife-friendly hedges, wildflower zones and even a bug and bee hotel.

Plans for the year ahead include the creation of ‘nature corridors’, which are designed to encourage wildlife to disperse across the whole park.

In addition, Cofton Holidays has also been awarded the Pearl Long Membership Award from the British Holiday and Home Parks Association (BH&HPA). Having been a member of the Association since 1986, this award recognises Cofton’s commitment to, and support of, the Association during its time as a member.

Helen Scott, Director of Cofton Holidays, commented: “We’re delighted to have received these landmark awards from two such highly respected bodies. At Cofton, we are constant-ly investing in our landscape and the surrounding environment in which we work in, and we have some exciting plans for 2020. These include the creation of our nature corridors which will encourage the wildlife to disperse across the park.”

Cofton’s facilities include a heated indoor pool with a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a gym, restaurant, pub, steam room, sauna, fitness studio, soft play area, playground, sports wall, outdoor pools and much more. Guests also have access to five coarse fishing lakes, miles of cycle paths and nature trails that take visitors through woodland to the golden sands of Dawlish Warren beach and nature reserve.
