14-foot snake found near a holiday park in Dorset

Two guests enjoying a break at a holiday park near Charmouth, Dorset, made a surprising discovery while on a walk near the campsite they were staying at

A 14-foot Burmese python, affectionately named ‘Bella’ by campsite staff, was discovered by Roger and Clare Hosking who were on holiday at Monkton Wyld Holiday Park.

While walking on Scotts Lane next to the campsite in west Dorset, the couple initially mistook the snake for a large branch. Upon realising it was a living creature, Clare sent her husband to alert the campsite staff while she stood guard over the snake, refusing to leave until she knew it was safe.

Trained professionals were called upon to ensure that Bella was safely captured, a process that took almost four hours. Bella was then transported to a nearby reptile rescue centre, where it has been confirmed that she is in good health and will receive proper care and attention.
