Summer Buyer's Guide 2019: Coleman

5b38f29d-e9a9-45d3-9d22-7b7cbc55cf1a

The best family tents combine high-quality materials with innovative features, and that’s the ethos behind Coleman’s range of inflatable and traditional pole tents.

Coleman has been producing outdoor equipment for 118 years and generations of campers have put their trust in the brand. All Coleman products share the same quality and attention to detail and each is backed by an extensive testing programme.

And as an added bonus this summer, you get free Camping and Caravanning Club membership with some Coleman BlackOut tents from selected retailers. Click here for more details of the special offer including which models are included and the retailers that are taking part.

Among the tents available this summer is the Mackenzie 4, a steel-poled model with BlackOut Bedrooms which block out 99.9% of natural light. It’s ideal for families on longer camping trips and with extra head height, it’s great for taller campers too.

Features include the three layer window system (mesh/PVC/curtain) and a zippable rear vent, accessible from inside the bedroom, for plenty of ventilation

The new Pinto Mountain 5 Plus XL boasts a large 1.7m enclosed porch with windows that is perfect for al fresco cooking or as an additional seating area. It also features BlackOut Bedrooms, UV Guard, reflective ropes, taped flysheet a sewn-in groundsheet and an impressive 4,500mm hydrostatic head.

Based on the award-winning Rocky Mountain 5 Plus, the new Rocky Mountain 5 Plus XL has an integrated front porch which creates three distinct living areas.

With festival season still in full swing, the new BlackOut 3 and 4 dome tents (£159.99/179.99 ) come in a striking red and black colour-scheme and feature the BlackOut Bedrooms. At the other end of the scale, the Festival Octagon (£224.99) is a glamping tent that sleeps up to eight people.

On the accessory front, Coleman has introduced BatteryGuard technology, which disconnects the battery as soon as you switch off your torch or lantern, ensuring there’s no power drainage. Flick it back on when you’re ready to use again and the batteries will reconnect. Battery Guard is featured on a variety of lanterns and torches, including the sleek 300L head torch (£27) and 200L lantern (£20). The innovative 360 Light and Sound Bluetooth lantern (£70) combines a light with an integrated speaker.

Summer Highlights

  • Revolutionary BlackOut Bedroom technology now features on tents from two-person dome models up to extra-spacious family tents.
  • A number of popular family models have large porches added for extra space and convenience.
  • Vibrant coloured tents with BlackOut bedrooms join the range, perfect for festivals.
  • UV Guard features across much of the range, providing SPF 50 sun protection.
  • Free Camping & Caravanning Club membership with selected models from participating retailers.
