Beuvelande Campsite

bb117e7a-8797-4558-9798-cc2b853e0fa4
ONE of the largest campsites on Jersey is to be found at St Martin. Beuvelande campsite is an attractive, level, well-drained, open site based around 14th to 17th century buildings with plenty of modern and ongoing development.

This 10-acre site has an AA five-pennant rating and half of its 175 unmarked grass pitches have electricity. A continuing programme means that the electrical feeds will soon all be upgraded to 10 amps capacity. At the time of our visit, there was building activity going on at a pace.

A new mini-supermarket, complete with disabled WC was under construction, as was new paving to this building’s forecourt. A smart toilet block, built in 1996, houses showers, WCs and basins, along with two washrooms for disabled people, two family washrooms and a parent and baby room. Nearby, the laundry room offers free use of irons and ironing boards. Dishwashing sinks are provided outside.

Adjacent to these amenities is the ‘Rendezvous’ restaurant and across the access way, the heated outdoor swimming pool which enjoys its own patio. The site also has a children's play area. Beuvelande is well geared to play – as well as a games room next to the TV room, at the far end of the site, away from traffic, is a large play area for ball games, cycling, kite-flying and other outdoor pursuits. There also is a dog walk in the vicinity.

A member of the site staff meets caravan and motorhome owners at the ferry terminal. Ferry crossings and Jersey permits can be arranged via the site, or through the Camping and Caravanning Club’s ‘Carefree’ travel service and Beuvelande Camping Site’s staff can organise the delivery of hire cars to the site – a point that may be useful for owners of larger motorhomes. Mount Orgueil Castle is within easy reach, as are Gorey Pier and Harbour, just two miles away. The Seascale restaurant in Gorey is a short distance away.
