NEAR the pretty village of Cenarth, Argoed Meadows has 30 pitches, all with16 amp electric hook-ups. There are seven hardstanding pitches and the high-quality toilet block is a regular winner of the Loo of the Year award (holding it for 2009).

It features privacy cubicles, hairdryers and shaver points, disabled facilities and free showers. A nearby laundry room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and camper's freezer.

The attractive village of Cenarth is famed for its leaping salmon waterfalls and is renowned for the River Teifi which flows over boulders and rocks on its way to the estuary at Cardigan Bay. Alongside the river is an attractive 17th century flour mill, which still features a cast iron and timber wheel. A famous landmark of the town is the 200-year-old bridge over the Teifi which features unusual stone holes in its design.

Cenarth is also the home of the coracle fishermen. Coracles are small boats - often circular - that are light enough to be carried on the back of fishermen. These simple boats have been used since as early as 1 AD and are very effective in shallow water. The National Coracle Centre, which is located in the flour mill, celebrates the history of these boats and shows the ancient craft of constructing one. During the summer months, you can sometimes have a ride in one, too.

The site itself is just two hundred yards from the waterfalls, with September and October being the best months to see the fish heading upstream to their breeding grounds. With a rod licence you can also fish for them (but sadly you're not allowed to whack them on the barbecue and you'll have to release them back). The season runs from 1 April to 17 October and rod licences are available in Cenarth village.

Also just a couple of hundred yards away is the village of Cenarth which offers pretty much all you could want for your touring holiday - including two good pubs that serve food, two tearooms and a Post Office with a licensed general stores stocking common groceries, drinks, newspapers and confectionary.

Nearby attractions to the site include the superb Pembrokeshire coastline and the Preseli Hills. Close to the coast you'll also find Britain's smallest city, St Davids, which features a cathedral and some pleasant shops to browse.

There are also many local craft activities to enjoy nearby including woodturning, pottery, woollen mills and even cheese-making.

For families, a trip to the Oakwood theme park makes for an enjoyable day out for children of all ages, offering a wide range of rides set in 80 acres of landscaped Pembrokeshire parkland.
