Yorkshire holiday village gets go-ahead for £4million complex

Sand-le-Mere holiday village in Yorkshire has been granted planning permssion for a new £4million facilities complex.

The new centre will host daytime and evenoing entertainment and will include a bar and restaurant, a show lounge, arcade, shop, cafe and takeaway. There will also be an indoor pool, kids' soft play area and a gym as well as outdoor leisure and play areas.

Sand-le-Mere is set in more than 100 acres of countryside and coastline in East Yorkshire between Hornsea and Withernsea.

The decision by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to grant planning permission means the complex will be open in time for the 2012 season.

Andrew Howe, chief executive of owners Bridge Leisure, said: "We are delighted to have been granted planning permission to build our exciting new facilities complex.

"These fantastic new entertainment facilities will complement the outdoor opportunities our holiday park already offers people - easy access to beautiful beaches and countryside."

Sand-le-Mere offers pitches for tents and touring caravans as well as offering holiday homes and static caravans to rent and buy.
