Steel-framed decking grows in popularity

Liniar, one of the market leaders in PVCu decking and fencing, says it is now supplying more and more of its galvanised steel sub-frame decking due to growing popular demand.

Traditionally, timber decks were the norm on caravan parks, but in the 1990s some companies started to import PVCu profiles from the USA, making the balustrade maintenance-free, while still using timber for the sub-frame and to reinforce the posts.

Essentially, all these companies had done was clad a timber deck with a PVCu profile. Unsurprisingly they still had the same issues of the timber rotting and being a fire risk!

“If a deck is going to be maintenance-free and fireproof, then it needs to be supported with steel, not timber,” says Liniar’s Rachel Freeborn. “At Liniar we believe we have the simplest and most cost effective system on the market, which complements the similarly well engineered balustrade and deck systems offered.

“Furthermore, we are the only UK company to offer our clients everything they need – design, modelling, tools, production, stocking and delivery. This means our clients have the assurance of a simple order process and fast deliveries.”

Liniar’s steel sub-frame system consists of just two components with a PVCu fascia cladding. The main profile is an ‘I’ beam in steel, and this connects to form a grid pattern with a unique PVCu injection-moulded sub-frame connector. Using a steel sub-frame means Liniar decking is maintenance-free, and they also carry a Class 1 fire rating.

The appearance of timber can be replicated using our Golden Oak or Rosewood finishes.

Liniare has a company history going back forty years and supplies its decking through a national network of partner installers.
