DORSET HOLIDAY PARKS GROUP PLANS BIG CHANGES

The introduction of leisure lodges at one of their parks for the first time and a complete redevelopment of a second are big news at West Dorset Leisure Holidays which has five sites in the area.
For the first time in its 50-year history Highlands End, the group’s flagship park overlooking Lyme Bay near Bridport, now has luxury leisure lodges as well as holiday caravans on site.
There are pitches for ten twin-unit Pinelog models, all of which are for holiday hire rather than owner occupation.
At Golden Cap Holiday Park, just a few minutes’ drive westwards along the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, work is due to start shortly on a major upgrade.
Some new luxury leisure lodges will feature but the emphasis will be on improving facilities for owners of the c.300 holiday caravans sited there.
There are plans for an indoor swimming pool, bar, restaurant, steam room and gym.
Eventually the existing touring caravan pitches will go to make room for the new development which will allow for parking alongside holiday homes.
That will bring Golden Cap more into line with amenities at the much smaller Highlands End.
