Cashback scheme to cut park-home bills

The Government has just introduced a new scheme to help park-home owners cut their heating bills.
The scheme means that owners who invest in external-wall insulation qualify for a refund of up to two-thirds of the cost of installation. That cashback can typically be worth up to £4,000.
According to Insulated Homes Ltd (IHL), this green deal is the real deal. And IHL is the sole company able to access the cashback because they are the only ones with an approved external-wall insulation system specifically designed for park homes.
The process uses maintenance-free polystyrene sheets in a range of colours and impregnated with graphite which are fixed to the external walls of the park home.
Gutters and downpipes are adjusted as necessary and all window and door openings fitted with new sills. The whole thing takes 3-4 days to complete.
As well as lower heating bills, the increased levels of insulation mean that homes are cooler in summer as well as warmer in winter. Additional benefits are lower levels of dampness and condensation and improved noise insulation.
The cost typically ranges from £5,357 for a 36x10 home up to £7,520 for a 50x20. But with the cashback those figures come down to £1,822 and £3,520 respectively. The refund is not dependent on financial status.
Those on welfare benefits or receiving low incomes (less than £25,000 per year) or having limited savings (£8,000 for a single person, £12,000 for a couple) may qualify for even bigger rebates.
