Camp sites in Somerset – Broadfield Park

ea426495-e149-4d08-b388-5f6222159916
LOCATED on the outskirts of the village of Middlezoy, just off the A372, less than six miles from Bridgwater, Broadfield Park is in the Somerset Levels with stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

There are 32 pitches alto-gether, all with their own garden, and it has a resident manager to look after the needs of home owners.

The village of Middlezoy itself has pubs and shops, but all residents’ other needs can be met in the town of Bridgwater.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, and those with a taste for wine could visit the Moorland Vineyard where you can see how the wine is produced, learn the history of English wine and visit the crafts workshops. Nearby is also the Greylake Nature Reserve where you can see a wide range of different bird species and other wildlife.

As well as its shops, the market town of Bridgwater has a number of museums. Three miles north of the town is Cannington Priory, with a lovely walled garden. Taunton, Glastonbury and Cheddar are all about ten miles.

The park is owned by the RS Hill & Sons company, which has a 60-year history, with its roots in farming.

It now runs a total of 14 residential parks, including, in the south west, Caramia Park at West Huntspill in Somerset; Yeovil Marsh Park near Yeovil in Somerset; Oakland Park at Warmwell in Dorset; Bungalow Park near Lyneham in Wiltshire; and Orchard Park near Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire.

WHAT CAN I DO AROUND HERE?

Muchelney Abbey
– Once a landmark in the Somerset Levels, the abbey was mostly destroyed during the reign of Henry VIII, but the 16th-century abbot’s house is intact. Summer theatre performances.

Canal Walks – The Bridgwater and Taunton Canal is isolated from the rest of England’s Canal system, which has helped it remain an idyllic route for walking and peaceful boating.
