Advertising feature – Oaktree Park, Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset

f0a6151c-f2de-4c94-84b7-815d3a5d55fa
OAKTREE Park is situated just outside Weston-super-Mare, which offers extensive services and facilities, and close to the village of Locking. The park has been established to an exceptionally high standard for the retired and semi-retired.

New homes are offered at an inclusive price on the popular, sought-after park, ready for occupation. Each home is surrounded by its own garden, which can include a shed and greenhouse if desired. Car parking spaces are conveniently located nearby. An active resident’s club on the park holds regular coffee mornings and bingo sessions.

Junction 21 of the M5 is easily accessible, and a frequent bus service is available 600 metres from the park, together with a private bus service providing transport into Weston-super-Mare two mornings a week. The surrounding area provides a wide variety of attractions including the cities of Bristol, Bath and Wells, together with the Mendip Hills and North Somerset Levels.

Weston-super-Mare is one of the largest seaside holiday resort towns in the West Country, and lies on the Bristol Channel, 18 miles southwest of Bristol. Set in the broad sweep of Weston Bay, the resort boasts miles of sandy beaches. However, because the Bristol Channel experiences the second largest tidal rise and fall in the world, at low tide the sea can be over a mile from the promenade.

Until the early 19th century, Weston was just a small windswept village of around 30 houses. It owes its growth and prosperity to the boom in seaside holidays during Victorian times. As Weston became more popular, many fashionable terraces, crescents and villas were built. Today, with its sandy beaches and a bustling seafront, Weston-super-Mare has lots of activities, and a land train transports visitors along the promenade to Marine Lake and to Royal Sands. For the more energetic visitors, the West Mendip Way, a 30-mile walking route, can be joined at the southern end of the town.

The Mendip Hills stand high above the Somerset countryside. The limestone upland abounds in karst features including dry gorges, sinks and river risings. Cheddar Gorge is the most famous feature.

The North Somerset Levels and Moors is an extensive area of wetland adjacent to the Severn Estuary between the Mendips in the south and Bristol to the north. It is an area rich in irreplaceable natural and historic heritage, and contains many habitats and features which are important for wildlife.
