Weinsberg launches A-class motorhome

The sister brand of Knaus, Weinsberg, has just launched an A-class motorhome called the CaraCore.

The CaraCore is the first A-class motorhome to be built by Weinsberg and joins its already established range of low-profile and overcab motorhomes.

It’s based on the Fiat Ducato and, on the outside, the CaraCore is instantly recognisable with distinctive headlamp edging and radiator grille, and black and grey graphics.

On the inside, the CaraCore comes in three layouts: the 650 MF features a French bed while the 650 MEG and 700 MEG have lengthways single beds over a garage. All layouts offer up to five berths thanks to a drop-down double over the cab and a fifth berth being made up in the lounge. With two three-point seatbelts on the forward-facing bench in the dinette, the CaraCore travels four.  

All three models feature a kitchen comprising of a three-burner gas hob with an adjacent sink, and a 142-litre AES fridge. The main difference between the three layouts is the washroom set up. In the French bed 650 MF, the washroom is positioned next to the bed with an enclosed shower cubicle at the back of the vehicle, and a toilet and basin ahead of this.

The 650 MEG differs in that the washroom is located ahead of the bedroom on the offside of the vehicle, and features a screened-off shower cubicle. The 700 MG is somewhat different as it features separate shower and toilet cubicles – one either side of the motorhome, ahead of the beds. UK prices are yet to be confirmed, but it will be available on the Continent from 55,490 Euro.

In other news, the CaraCompact and CaraCompact Edition Pepper will also get a makeover for the 2020 season. The 600 MG is replaced by the 600 MF, which features a French bed with an adjacent washroom comprising a bench toilet, a screened off shower cubicle, and a washbasin. Soft furnishings this year consist of Malabar upholstery, with dark brown imitation leather and beige fabric and stitching, offset with copper coloured cushions and shiny copper handles on the cabinets. 

Also new, and available as an option on all Knaus and Weinsberg motorhomes, is the optional ‘e.hit’ rear carrier that attaches directly to the chassis and swings out from under the bumper at the touch of a button. The addition of a an ‘e.carry’ bike carrier means you can carry two bikes. Instead of this – or in addition to – you can specify the ‘e.box’ accessory, which is a sturdy plastic weather resistant transport box with a 320-litre capacity.

If you order the optional media pack, you also get the new head-up display, which is a transparent screen that sits conveniently above the steering wheel and displays navigation information such as directions and speed limit.
