Renault introduces hydrogen power to electric van range

Renault is introducing a hydrogen option to its commercial vehicles with the Kangoo Z.E. version available at the end of this year and the Master Z.E. Hydrogen being launched in the first half of 2020.

The hydrogen fuel cell will give Renault’s electric vans up to three times more range, with a charging time of only five to 10 minutes. This fuel cell acts as a range extender providing 10kW, meaning the hydrogen versions of the Kangoo Z.E. and Master Z.E. could achieve over 350km (nearly 220 miles). The 100% electric Master currently has a range of 120km (75 miles).

This new Master will be available as a van or chassis cab, while the two hydrogen fuel tanks located under the floor will add 200kg onto the weight of the base vehicle. The Kangoo Z.E. Hydrogen model weighs 110kg more than the standard Z.E.

It has not yet been confirmed if these vehicles will be available in right-hand drive.
