Rapido launches new range of compact motorhomes

Ahead of its usual summer launch, French motorhome manufacturer, Rapido, has announced a new line-up of compact low-profile motorhomes, called the C Series. The new range expands the company’s portfolio with three models, all boasting a slimmer overall width of 2.17m (compared with 2.35m of the rest of the range).

All C Series models are based on the Fiat Ducato and come with an overcab Skyview sunroof featuring curved laminated glass and a built-in blackout blind. In order to minimise heat loss, the area also has a Truma heating duct.

The new range kicks off with the C56, at 5.99m long. This model has a French bed measuring 2.04m by 1.33m, while the under-bed area can be reached through an external hatch or by lifting the bed base. The wardrobe overhangs the foot of the bed, while forward of this is an L-shaped lounge. The front seating can be converted into a third berth.

The C55 is longer, at 6.72m, and has twin single beds over a garage with full-width storage and large loading doors (1.05m by 0.80m) on each side. The beds are 1.85m and 1.99m long. This layout also introduces a new Duo Space washroom with a partition that hides the toilet when revealing the shower. Its kitchen includes a 90-litre compressor fridge and two-burner hob, while again the L-shaped lounge can be converted into a transverse single bed.

The final C Series layout is the C86, which offers an island bed layout in a 6.99m body. Its rear bed measures 1.96m by 1.40m, while the bathroom has toilet facilities on the nearside and a shower on the offside, which combine to offer a large private space with dual partitions. The C86 also has full-width storage below the bed, a face-to-face lounge, four travel seats and a 133-litre fridge. Like the other models, it is a three-berth.

All three C Series motorhomes come with a folding table to ease movement through the vehicle, an electric step and Truma Combi D diesel-powered heating. No prices have yet been announced.
