Rapido Group team up with environmental charity

Rapido is teaming up with environmental charity, Reforest'Action, for the second year in a row to plant 2,000 trees at a woodland in France. Choosing a site as close the to company's Mayenne factory as possible, the ONF (National Forest Office) will be planting these trees in the next few months.

Following the work in Vimarcé, near Sillé-le-Guillaume, 2,000 trees will now be planted in the Domaniale de Bellebranche forest, located in Saint-Brice (53). This plot of land had been abandoned and is now a listed Grade II Natural Area of Ecological, Faunistic or Floristic Interest. It is home to a reed bed and has a rich ecosystem with middle spotted woodpeckers, black woodpeckers, Eurasian hobbies and bats.

Rapido states, "Thanks to Reforest’Action, who quantifies the results, we are proudly helping to create 57 weeks of work and 4,000 animal shelters, offset 2,000,000km of car travel and generate over 660 years of oxygen. 

Reforest'Action has been operating since 2010 and aims to enable 'individuals and companies committed to reducing their footprint to have a positive impact on the environment by planting trees'.

Rapido goes onto add, "This commitment by our company is not an isolated act as Rapido Group set up a CSR several years ago by taking control of the source of our wood, which is our primary resource, to ensure it is PEFC certified and comes from sustainably managed forests. Our offices and workshops are modern and well designed (heat pumps, lighting that adapts to natural lighting levels, recycling water used for vehicle water tightness tests, etc.). Lastly, Rapido Group opts for local suppliers, thereby contributing to the economic activity in our region while reducing the environmental impact of transport."
