Laika reveals all-new Ecovip motorhome range for 2021

Italian manufacturer Laika has revealed a significant number of new models, including the latest generation of its best-selling Ecovip range, several new campervans and a new range to sit within its Kosmo line-up.

The manufacturer, which is part of the huge Erwin Hymer Group and operates from one of Europe’s most modern factories located in the heart of Tuscany, presented its new 2021 models saying that its new premium models represent the core values of Laika and will help it gain greater market share.

The most significant news is the reveal of the completely new Ecovip model range, which has been expanded to include 21 models.

The Ecovip is Laika’s signature range and is its best-seller. It has been sold across Europe for almost three decades. Two years ago, the range received an all-new interior design and now the new generation of Ecovip has arrived, which features new A-class models as well as new low-profiles and, for the first time ever, three campervans have joined the line-up.

Apart from the three all-new campervans, the models are replicated so buyers can opt for the same layout in either an A-class or a low-profile body.

The new Ecovips

Within this new generation of Ecovips is the new L 3009, which is 6.99m high and under 3m high (2.96m).

Internal height is an impressive 2.1m in this new L 3009, which is a two-berth as standard with the option for two additional berths thanks to an over-lounge electric drop-down bed.

The front living area includes an L-shaped dinette and a large side couch meaning up to five people can relax or dine at the table.

Thanks to the double floor, the interior is step-free throughout and there are additional storage compartments integrated in the floor.

As with all models in the Ecovip range, the L 3009 features a new washroom with large separate shower. The washroom door can be used to either close off the washroom or close off the rear bedroom, which features twin beds that can be transformed into a double bed.

There is a space-saving retractable twin step and a pull-out wardrobe under the beds, which sit above a rear garage with double external access door. The garage is heated and is designed for items such as e-bikes, surfboards and outdoor chairs.

At the rear, Laika has designed a new automotive-inspired wall panel with 3D-design LED lights.

It features a new XL electric entrance step with acoustic warming while the engine is running and a recall directly from the dashboard.

In addition to the nine Ecovip low-profiles and nine A-classes, there are the three new Ecovip campervans: the 540, 600 and 641.

Two rear berths are standard in all three campervans – either twin singles or transverse double beds and, for larger groups, up to three more berths can be added as an option.

Lengths vary from 5.41m, 5.99m up to 6.36m.

The all-new Laika Emblema

Also new from Laika for the 2021 season is an all-new Emblema line-up, which sits in the entry-level Kosmo range, which was launched by Laika just two years ago to provide a more affordable gateway into its portfolio.

The enhanced Emblema line-up consists of seven models – four low-profiles between 6.95m (209) and 7.41m (509, 509 and 512) – and three A-classes (909 E, 909 LE and 912 E), which are 7.41m long.

The low-profiles come as two-berths as standard but up to three berths can be additionally added, while the A-class are and four-berth as standard with the option for one more berth.

They all come with 140bhp engines in the Fiat Ducato base vehicles, which have a range of driving aids as standard, as well as 16-inch alloys.

Inside, Laika has included anti-condensation walls in the living area and bedroom, wall units with internal shelves, drawers and baskets with automatic soft-close and a wardrobe with automatic lighting.

Other touches include direct and indirect multilevel LED lighting. New Noce Italiano furniture and cab carpeting. The washroom has an opening window, blind and a mosquito net while the shower is equipped with a wooden footboard. Also included as standard are an oven hood, exclusive exterior graphics and a choice of either Truma Combi 6 or Alde 3020 ‘wet’ central heating in the coachbuilt models.

New campervans in the Kosmo line-up

Also joining the entry-level Kosmo line-up are three campervans all based on the Fiat Ducato 120bhp (with the option to upgrade engine output). The Kosmo 5.4 is 5.41m long while the Kosmo 6.0 is 5.99m and the Kosmo 6.4 is 6.36m long.

As with the new Ecovip campervans, all are two-berth as standard. Another berth is available as an option in the living area or two more berths in the pop-top roof.

The kitchen comes with a two-burner stove, stainless-steel sink and compressor fridge, which is accessible from both inside and outside. The front living area features a half-dinette and twin swivel cab seats with an adjustable table and the possibility to extend the top if needed. The campervans are also equipped with a washroom including a separate shower.

Meanwhile, the two-model Kosmo Van-Duo Compact coachbuilt range (the Compact 5 and the Compact 9) get new styrosint insulation, as well as a new upholstered bed head and the possibility of an extra bed in the living room.

The standard equipment of both also includes new, high-quality slatted frames and mattresses, a new table top with black wood-effect and improved kitchen worktops.

All Kosmo coachbuilt models also get a brand-new cab door, as well as improved garage doors, the new table top with black wood-effect and the improved kitchen worktops. They all also have new panels to cover the blackout system instead of the blinds.

Finally, Laika’s premium range of A-classes and low-profiles – the Kreos – get some improvements for 2021 including new Dometic Series 10 refrigerators and new upholstery.
