Goldschmitt reveals new chassis packages for Sevel-based campers

Suspension and chassis specialist, Goldschmitt, has launched new chassis packages for lighter campervans based on the Fiat Ducato, as well as its sister vans from Citroën (Jumper/Relay) and Peugeot (Boxer), which are all built at the Sevel factory.

It says that while the Ducato’s handling characteristics are “unrivalled”, when it comes to suspension comfort, there is room for improvement. “Road surface roughness, manhole covers and road repairs tend to result in a very bumpy ride for passengers in the Ducato,” it said.

To solve this problem, Goldschmitt is offering new chassis packages for the Ducato as well as for the identically designed Relay and Boxer, which it says make the vans more comfortable and safer.

The new CamperPlus packages are designed especially for lightweight vehicles and recently became available in EvoBasic and EvoSmart versions.

Both versions include RouteComfort Evo front axle optimisation. The new comfort suspension struts are equipped with an automatic damper control, which adapts to road surface roughness.

This technology, which is controlled by the flow and pressure conditions in the shock absorber, provides even more comfortable damping during smooth driving, but also ensures stable and safe driving behaviour during intense movement of the vehicle body.

Depending on the package, the rear axle will use coil springs (EvoBasic) or air springs (EvoSmart), which are additionally installed on the leaf-sprung rear axle and provide a greater amount of ride comfort and safety.

The two-circuit air suspension is equipped with voluminous eight-inch air bellows, a 12V compressor and a SoftTouch control panel, which includes two illuminated pressure gauges that monitor and control the air pressure.

The CamperPlus packages are available for vans built from model year 2006 onwards.
