Caravan Guard customer donates campervan to care home staff

A caring Caravan Guard customer has donated her campervan to a local care home during the coronavirus lockdown.

Anne Peachey from Holmfirth was alerted to an appeal from the Meadow Court Residential Care Home in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, for motorhomes or caravans for 16 of their staff to stay in over the coming weeks.

Anne, who is currently on lockdown in her Greek holiday home, spoke to her insurance provider, Caravan Guard, and together they were able to amend her policy to cover her Globecar Campscout to be used for the care home staff to self isolate.

“As a company we care completely about our customers and community and wanted to be able to help Mrs Peachey fulfil this wonderful offer of support,” said Caravan Guard's PR & Communications Manager Liz Harrison. 

Anne said: “I was delighted to be able to help, as I’ve not been able to do anything to support the local community whilst stuck in Greece."

Anne was one of many campervan and caravan owners who came forward to help, as Meadow Court’s residential care home manager Stephen Humble explained: “We have eight vehicles for our Meadow Court Angels – but could have had about 20 - and the team has really pulled together, self-rostering and helping each other out with various tasks. We are blessed to have such an amazing team."
