Carado first to launch 2024-season motorhomes

Carado, one of the German brands of the Erwin Hymer Group, has again broken with the traditional way of doing things and is once more the first of the European manufacturers to reveal its 2024 line-up

While we still have months of the 2023 season to go, Carado has confirmed we will be getting three all-new Ford-based coachbuilts for next year. The trio of Transit-based low- profiles – the T338, T447 and T449 – all carry the Edition24 moniker for the coming season and are all based on the 130bhp Ford as standard (although the T338 and T447 are also available on the Fiat Ducato).

The shortest of the new Edition24 trio, the 6.99m-long T338, has twin rear single beds above a garage, with a drop-down bed above the lounge providing a further two berths. The layout also features Carado’s clever space-saving swing-wall washroom where the washbasin wall swings over to hide the toilet and create a large dedicated shower area.

The other two new Edition24s – the T447 and T449 – are both 7.36m long and are two-berth as standard, either twin rear single beds above a garage (T447) or a rear island double bed above the garage (T449). Both have the option for a drop-down double bed above the lounge and both have a central shower and washroom with swing doors, allowing the area to be closed off to create an en suite.

All three come with 16in alloys as standard and have Carado’s Chassis Package, as well as the Basic Package, a blackout blind, Carado’s new "grey" living environment, an insulated waste water tank, an awning, the TV Package, framed windows and other extras such as a double-access garage.

The three new Ford models also have a range of options, such as an upgrade to the 155bhp Ford engine, automatic transmission, drop-down bed above the lounge, bicycle rack, wooden shower grate and cable preparation for solar panels and underfloor heating.

Prices for the three new models have not yet been confirmed for the UK but expect them to be competitive considering Carado’s entry-level status and the use of the Ford chassis.

UK specifications are still to be finalised but Carado has already confirmed all UK-bound Edition24 modelswill have ovens and carpets as standard.

New Carado interiors for 2024

In addition to the arrival of the three new Fords, Carado has also introduced five different interior designs, as well as new equipment features and design decals on the rear and on the side wall of the models for the 2024 season.

In relation to the interior changes for the coming season, Carado has focused on enhanced ambient lighting and coordinated décors in the colours Visby Oak, Sand Grey and Cozy White, while the new colour schemes include graphite, explorer, white, brown and grey, depending on the model.

Carado has also changed the shape of the furniture so the overhead lockers in the living area have around 25% more volume and storage space. The design has also been optimised in the sleeping area with sloping twin beds that Carado says offer more space and freedom of movement. In addition, the shelves above the twin beds are now semi-enclosed shelves, called swallow's nests.

In the washroom area, the toilet and shower room has been completely revised for all coachbuilts except the overcab luton models, and adapted to the new colour and shape concept.

As part of its Basic Package, a 5cm-wider habitation door with a window, storage options and coat hooks are now available. Carado has also introduced "pro" and "pro+" equipment lines for its Fiat and Citroën-based models, which add extra equipment as standard.
