Camping and Caravanning Club elects new Chairman

Bob Talbot has been elected as The Camping and Caravanning Club’s new Chairman, replacing Mel Hill.

Bob, from Newton Abbot, Devon, said “I’m really looking forward to meeting other members when out and about, and promoting the benefits of the Club and the great outdoors. The Club for me is all about the friendship. In the time I’ve been with the Club I’ve camped at many meets and made friends for life. Camping offers so much flexibility and my own daughters have grown up enjoying camping holidays – both have gone through the Club’s Youth Section and my eldest now has a caravan of her own.”

It was in 1965 that he started camping with his parents in their Eccles caravan, which began his love of camping and caravanning.

Alongside his role as Chairman, Bob continues to sit as a member of the Club’s Executive Committee, Management Committee and National Youth Committee. 

Robert Louden MBE, the C&CC’s Director General, said: “Bob brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to the role and is a great ambassador for the Club. He has been a Club member for nearly 30 years and held many important positions in this time, including South West Region Chairman and Club Vice Chairman between 2016 and 2018.”
