Bilbo’s launches entry-level campervans under £40k

Surrey-based VW campervan manufacturer, Bilbo’s, has announced its new SL range of more affordable models, all based on passenger-carrying versions of the latest Volkswagen T6 Transporter.

There are four campervans in this new range, all built with National Small Series Type Approval and National Caravan Council (NCC) approved. Prices start at £38,950 for the Space SL, which was exhibited at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC in October.

As standard, the SL campervans are based on a short-wheelbase van with Startline spec and the 102PS Euro VI engine fitted with Bluemotion Technology. Upgrades to a long wheelbase or 150PS engine are available at extra cost.

In the living area, the SL versions adopt Bilbo’s proven conversions – Space (with its removable kitchen pods), Komba (side kitchen with wide seat/bed), Celex (more comprehensive side kitchen with 65-litre fridge) and Nexa (rear kitchen, single beds). The Space SL kicks off the line-up at £38,950, while the Komba SL starts at £41,450 and the Celex SL and Nexa SL are priced from £41,950.

For those wanting a higher spec Volkswagen camper, Bilbo’s has renamed its T6 Highline-based models with an ‘HL’ suffix. Prices for HL models commence at £46,650.

David Latham, partner at Bilbo’s, told MMM magazine: “The SL range is priced to appeal to those customers who want to own a Volkswagen campervan but have been unable to do so because they have been limited by their budget. This range gives customers the opportunity to own a Bilbo’s campervan at a price they can afford, without compromising on quality.”
