Win £500 worth of camping gear and help to save British birdlife

2e6fabd1-6f47-4189-9373-71b64d36f8d9

What could be more fun than sleeping outside on a warm June night, watching the stars circle across the sky and waiting for the spectacular dawn chorus to herald a new day?

The answer is: doing that while helping to raise money to save those birds, and other British wildlife. And what could be even better than that? Winning our fantastic prize of a complete set of family camping equipment!

We’ve teamed up with RSPB and outdoor equipment retailer Blacks to support the RSPB Big Wild Sleepout 2014. The charity is encouraging people to spend a night under the stars between 16-22 June to find out which creatures they share their homes with, and raise money to help protect them.

Adventurous campers will be building and sleeping in dens and shelters, some will stick to the traditional tent, others plan to sleep on their garden trampoline, while some will just venture outdoors and sleep under the stars. One lucky camper will be able to enjoy their next camping trip in style, with all the gear in this prize.

The prize includes:

*  Four-person tunnel tent  *  two sleeping bags  *  self inflating mat  *
*  collapsible lantern  * family cookset  *  fold-and-go camping stove  *

As if that wasn’t enough, the prize also includes:

*  picnic blanket  *  two lunch boxes  *  nature bingo game  *  chocolate bird shapes  *  children’s lunchbag  *  keep cup  *
*  RSPB Great British Wildlife Hunt book  *  Cranberry crunch hedgehog food  *

As well as getting their sleepouts sponsored to raise money and help save wildlife, everyone taking part can also do a range of activities, such as den building, torchlight safaris and bug hunting. For those that don’t have a garden, RSPB is also organising some exciting Big Wild Sleepout events across the UK.

All of the money raised will help give nature a home. To help people get the most out of their wild night out, RSPB has produced a free fundraising pack full of everything needed to host a successful sleepout. It contains lots of fun ideas to make raising money really easy.

To enter our super competition, simply send us the best picture you’ve taken during the Big Wild Sleepout 2014. You can enter by email, or via Facebook or Twitter (@CampsiteFindr). The most pleasing picture submitted, as judged by the editors here, will win the prize. Your picture could be of your fund-raising activities, your camp, a bird you spotted, or anything that captures the spirit of the event.

So get snapping! Check the small print below, pick up an RSPB fundraising guide, plan your sleepout, and help save British wildlife. Most important: have fun, stay safe, and let us know how you get on!
