Visit Denmark - Advertorial

DENMARK may not be the first country you think of when planning a camping trip abroad but it’s certainly a worthy contender when you consider its stunning beaches, bustling nightlife and picturesque fishing villages.

It’s the perfect destination to spend some rewarding time under the canvas as camping and a love of the great outdoors are very much a Danish way of life. It’s no accident that the country’s tourism slogans are  “Feel free” and “Free the Dane in you” as the Danish clearly enjoy a relaxed way of life.

The standard of Denmark’s camping facilities are extremely high and campsites range from basic pitches for tents and caravans to luxury developments. The Danish Camping Board is an independent organisation that monitors the country’s 500 campsites and ranks them with between one and five stars.

Six campsites have been awarded the “superplatz” title – the equivalent of the Michelin star for restaurants. Prices can be extremely affordable, especially outside the Danish sDenmark town scene imagechool holidays from mid-June to mid-August.

You can always plan some time at the seaside when holidaying in Denmark as nowhere is more than 35 miles from the sea. Its beaches are recognised for their cleanliness too and 216 of them have been awarded the Blue Flag status, an international award scheme that guarantees tourists that a beach they are visiting is one of the best in the world.

Wherever you pitch up in Denmark you’re never far from its many sights and attractions. They include its four biggest cities – Copenhagen, Aalborg, Aarhus and Odense – each of which boast a huge amount of attractions to keep visitors entertained.

And Denmark is a Mecca for food lovers as it is home to some of the world’s best restaurants. It’s said that it’s far enough south to grow its own crops but far enough north so they grow slowly and fully develop their flavour.

If that’s not mouth watering enough then consider the country’s many bars and music venues where you can enjoy a beer or glass of wine while listening to some fantastic entertainment.

And getting there is simple, with flying or taking a ferry both an option.

You are wrong if you think:

The weather is always cold in Denmark:

Danish summer is often warmer than the UK and Ireland and it is often that you will experience temperatures up to 24-25 degrees.

It’s always dark:
In the summer, the sun doesn’t set before 10pm.

It doesn’t have a coastline:
It boasts more than 7,000km of coastline with more than 5,000km of beautiful sandy and children-friendly beaches.
