The Coppins CL

af39e11e-2bc8-43d0-a9d0-9f4a8b14199d
AS you drive through the entrance to this beautiful CL, you know you are going to find an immaculate site, with manicured lawns and wonderful panoramic views sweeping across the fields and hills, with the sea shimmering in the distance.

The village of Saundersfoot is close by and is a 19th century fishing port that has become a family holiday centre. There are three small beaches, which abound with rock pools, and a sheltered harbour. It sits in a sheltered valley and there are good walks along the coast.

This adult-only site is far enough away from the road to be quiet and peaceful, and the five pitches are all hardstanding with electricity. There is also a bonus to staying at this CL (as if you needed one), with a shower and three toilets, one of which has a hand basin. All have free hot water and shaver points and are modern and very clean.

A pretty bungalow sits near the main house, and is rented out, offering the chance for your family to join you on your holiday. The accommodation is well equipped and has central heating. This site has won the regional CL award on many occasions.

The old county of Pembrokeshire has a magnificent coastline, with inland scenery that is less dramatic but enhanced by pretty villages and several fine castles. Manorbier, close to Tenby, is described as the ‘most pleasant spot in Wales’, and there is a castle dating from 1147 that offers impressive views out to sea from the ramparts. The sandy beach has rock pools and is perfect for children.

Tenby is dubbed ‘The jewel in the crown of the Welsh Riviera’, with its narrow streets and tiny shops huddled within the medieval town walls. It is reputed to be one of the Britain’s finest historic towns, containing over 300 buildings of special interest.

The ancient town of Pembroke was built around the great forts of Pembroke Castle, the largest in the area and the birthplace of Henry Tudor. It is in excellent condition, belying its 800-year history, and has a fine round keep. Beneath the castle is a huge natural cavern, known as the Wogan. The whole area abounds in walks for those whose interests lead them to the coastal paths and cliffs.
