Mobile motorhome care service to be launched by Mopar

f9f5d9d7-a2a7-4d3e-8685-c9122a79e180

A Europe-wide mobile repair and maintenance service aimed at those with Fiat Ducato-based motorhomes and Fiat Talento-based campervans will be launched in the UK at the NEC motorhome show in Birmingham (20 to 25 February, 2018)

The service is from Mopar, which is the aftersales, parts and customer care operation of Fiat Chrysler.

Mopar already operates motorhome service centres through the Fiat Professional network, which currently has 88 outlets across the UK, 13 of which are open 24 hours, that can work on motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes; some can take motorhomes based on heavier chassis.

The company is also already well-known among many Ducato-based motorhome owners for providing the extended motorhome warranty service, known as Maximum Care Camper.

Mobile motorhome service

But what Mopar is less well known for in the UK is the servicing and maintenance work it carries out on Fiat models, including those used as the base for conversion into motorhomes and campervans. However, with the launch of a new come-to-you repair and maintenance service, this is about to change.

The new service – Mopar Express Care – is a fleet of mobile workshops that aim to “support customers wherever they may be”.
This mobile service is now set to be launched in the UK and will be available to Ducato and Talento-based motorhome and campervan owners. The service is already available in 44 different countries, which makes it particularly useful for motorhomers travelling abroad.

This come-to-you service means whether you’re at the roadside, a campsite or at home, Mopar will bring one of its mobile workshops to you to carry out repairs and maintenance to your Fiat Professional base vehicle.

Mopar says the new service should reduce waiting times, meaning time taken off your holiday should be kept to a minimum.
It says many services can be performed by the Mopar Express mobile technicians, including:

  • Electronic diagnosis and check-ups
  • Full services
  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Checks and replacement of filters, brakes, batteries, lamps and oil
  • Air-con servicing
  • Tyre service and replacement
  • Window/windscreen repairs and replacements
  • Passenger compartment sanitation
  • Accessory installations

Mopar confirmed to MMM magazine, Britain's best-selling motorhome magazine, that it plans to launch the Express Care mobile service in the UK at the upcoming NEC motorhome and caravan show. It said those interested in this new service, or any other aspect of Mopar’s work, can visit it at the Fiat Professional stand (stand 3180).

Mopar said the new service is part of its – and Fiat Professional’s – continued commitment to support motorhomes based on the Ducato and campervans based on the Talento.

As Pietro Casati, Operations Manager at the Fiat Group Customer Services Centre, explained, motorhome customers have special needs. “Anyone buying a motorhome is not buying just a vehicle,” he said. “They are also buying a holiday. For us, service goes beyond taking care of the product, it extends to taking care of our customers on holiday. This involves staying by the customer’s side at 360 degrees… through a roadside assistance service ready to rapidly attend anywhere in Europe.”

Service centres

He said this new service is in addition to the already established network of 1,800 Fiat motorhome service centres across Europe and the dedicated multi-lingual customer care centre (freephone 00800 34 281111), which is open 24 hours a day, where users can always find someone who “speaks their language”.

This new mobile service will also complement the existing network of Fiat Professional service centres and will carry all the same benefits, such as the fact that the centres and mobile teams use only genuine parts and that all the technicians are trained by Fiat Chrysler on its vehicles so their technical knowledge, equipment and support is unmatched.

“Mopar trained technicians will be carrying out the service, providing maximum skill sets and knowledge,” said a Mopar spokesperson.

Extended warranty

Mopar’s Maximum Care Camper is an extended warranty programme that provides servicing cover for all mechanical and electrical components of a motorhome or campervan’s Fiat base with various time and mileage options. It is valid all over Europe.

It gives buyers of new motorhomes and campervans based on a Fiat Ducato or Talento the possibility of extending the standard factory warranty up to five years, with various term and mileage options available according to your requirements and driving style.

The extended warranty also extends the Fiat Camper Assistance and dedicated Roadside Assistance to the same year and mileage term.

Mopar said the benefits of using its network of Fiat Professional service centres include the fact that the centres will only use genuine parts and that all its technicians are trained by Fiat Chrysler on its vehicles so their technical knowledge, equipment and support is unmatched. “Mopar trained technicians will be carrying out the service, providing maximum skill sets and knowledge,” said Mopar.

Service contracts

Mopar also offers Easy Care, which allows customers to fix the price of regular servicing and protects  against inflation, VAT, parts and labour price increases. It is essentially a service plan designed to be a way for motorhome and campervan owners to budget for their vehicle’s servicing requirements. It includes Europe-wide, 24 months' unlimited parts and labour warranty guarantee, it also guarantees that only genuine parts are  used and the service is conducted by technicians who are trained and qualified by Fiat. A Mopar spokesman added: "The Easy Care plan has been specifically selected to maximize the life and condition of your engine. Given the unique operating nature of each engine, the servicing schedule is slightly different depending on the engine you have chosen. The Easy Care plan is priced to include all parts, labour and fluids required to perform the routine service for your vehicle."

Oil care

Mopar also offers Oil Care, which fixes the costs of oil and oil filter changes. There are different options available: from 1 – 5 oil changes that help keep a motorhome's engine in tip top condition. In addition, the oil and oil filter replacement package offers  a series of 14 check-ups that control the main parts of the motorhome base vehicle, including

  • battery efficiency
  • suspension
  • front and rear brakes
  • lights and levels
  • tyre pressure and wear
  • wipers and washers
  • fault code and
  • drive belts.

As with Easy Care, it includes full Europe-wide, 24 months' unlimited parts and labour warranty guarantee, as well as guaranteeing only genuine parts are used and the service is conducted by Fiat-trained technicians. It protects  against inflation, VAT, parts and labour price increases.

Who is Mopar

Mopar (a simple contraction of the words ‘motor’ and ‘parts’) was born in August 1937, as the name of a line of antifreeze products.

Mopar has since evolved over the past 80 years to serve as the service, parts and customer-care brand of all Fiat Chrysler vehicles around the world.
Mopar made its mark in the 1960s during the muscle-car era, with Mopar Performance Parts used to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use, and expanded to include technical service and customer support.

Today, Mopar distributes more than 500,000 parts and accessories in over 150 markets from more than 50 parts distribution centres and 25 customer contact centres around the world.

Mopar is a source of genuine parts and accessories for all Fiat Chrysler vehicle brands.

Its parts are engineered together with the same teams that create factory-authorised specifications for Fiat Chrysler vehicles, which means its parts have a direct connection that no other aftermarket parts company has.

Learn more

For those interested in learning more about Mopar, it has just launched a new Facebook page, which features up-to-date news and products and dedicated UK content. The new Facebook page also offers updates on accessories, details of current offers, tips, advice and photography from the brand. The main landing page also features sections for posts, reviews, pictures and videos – already Mopar has in excess of 1.1 million Facebook followers.
