Confidence boosting course

541e1bce-ae06-4ee3-b095-8a08a95ece11

Chloë Hukin, MMM's resident motorhome novice, drives a motorcaravan for the first time with the help of a Caravan Club driving course. This feature was first published in the March 2011 issue of MMM.

"If you’re a complete motorhome novice like me, you might understand what I mean when I admit that the thought of driving/parking/sitting in the driving seat of a ‘van (no matter what the size), scared me silly.

"I arrived at the MMM offices back in 2009 with zero motorhoming experience but bags of enthusiasm - though I’ll be honest, having only just passed my driving test, sitting in the driving seat of a ‘van didn’t excite me one little bit.

"They say it’s best to face your fears... In my case, this was MMM’s long-term test ‘van at the time - my nemesis the 5.41-metre Autocruise Jazz panel van (don’t laugh). And the solution to my fear? The Caravan Club’s Motor Caravan Manoeuvring Course.

"I just hoped my instructor didn’t scare easily!"
