Love gadgets and gizmos as much as you love motorhomes and campervans? XE Currency app screenshot

XE Currency App

If you’re off to foreign lands, don’t forget to install a currency converter on your smartphone or tablet before you go – there’s nothing more disappointing than discovering at Calais that the last of your magic beans won’t stretch to that lovely straw donkey you had your eye on, after all.

The XE Currency app is free to download on both Android and i0S devices. It features an easy-to-use currency calculator and uses live exchange rates that update every minute, although it also works offline so as not to gobble up your valuable data allowance. Of course, you can create favourites lists, set up nail-biting alerts and stare at very interesting graphs, to name but a few exciting features.

Oboz Women's Bridger boot in Red

Oboz Women’s Bridger Boot/Shoe

There’s nothing quite like a bracing walk in the countryside to blow the cobwebs away at this time of year, but staying safe is paramount when gallivanting off road. If you’re wearing flip-flops, you’re most certainly going to come a cropper in muddy and icy winter conditions, and twistin’ the night away will only result in a Mountain Rescue operation. So be sensible and get yourself some nice boots.

These Bridger boots are lightweight and feature B-Dry waterproofing technology. Made from a combination of leather and fabric, they’re pliable and feel trainer-like. However, being mid-height and with a sturdy outsole, they offer good ankle support and traction across a variety of terrains. They’re available in half-size increments from 3.5 up to 8.5, and in a choice of colours. Priced at £145. There is also a shoe version available.

Visit Oboz Footwear for more info or order online at Blacks.

Outwell Collaps Pot

Outwell Collaps Pot

As nice as those Le Creuset pans are, they do weigh as much as a small elephant and take up a similar amount of room. Thankfully, this collapsible cooking pot with lid from Outwell is much more practical.

Made from silicone and steel, it flat-packs down when not in use and is then much easier to store than a regular pot, due to its reduced size. When you want to use it, simply push the bottom to pop it out and place it on the hob as usual.

At £49.99, it’s not cheap, but the quality is excellent. Unlike some of the cheaper alternatives out there, this one doesn’t go wobbly once it’s hot or make your food taste funny; it’s also BPA-free and is easy to clean. The pot has a 2.5-litre capacity and measures 30.5cm by 24cm by 5cm when collapsed.

Order an Outwell Collaps Pot online from Amazon.

Speedlink Taylor 6-in-1 Precision Screwdriver

Ideal for fiddly electrical jobs, you can dismantle and reassemble the coffee maker or flatscreen TV in the motorhome to your heart’s content with this six-in-one screwdriver. With three crosshead and three slotted heads to play with, you’ll be willing the cupboard doors to fall off, too. A gearless ratchet makes screwing a doddle.

When not in use, the screw bits are stored in a pistol-style chamber in the handle of the screwdriver, which pulls out and spins round in cool cowboy fashion. At just 12cm long, it will easily slip into a pocket or become lost in the depths of a glove box. For around £20, you too can release your inner DIY cowboy.

Find out more on the Speedlink website or order online from Amazon.

Go Travel Charge & Sync Cable

Rather like thunderbolts of lightning – which can be very, very frightening, indeed – lightning connectors can be a bit of a nightmare. If you’ve got an iPad, iPod and iPhone, the odds are you’ve got chargers and leads galore strewn about the place like a carefully devised cheese wire maze, ready to trip up the unwary.

But with one of these retractable USB (MFI) cables, such troubles will be no more than a storm in a teacup. Made using Apple certified components, it’s compatible with the latest Apple devices.

Fitted to a reel for tidy storage, there’s a USB connector at one end and a lightning connector at the other. It can both charge and sync your gadgets, so you can put a stop to Apple cable time going pear-shaped right now for £14.99.

Find out more at www.go-travelproducts.com or order online from Amazon.

WM Aquatec Fresh Water Hygiene Trio 120L

If the motorhome has been tucked up in storage over the winter, don’t be too surprised to discover the Loch Ness monster has been busy bringing up a family in your fresh water tank these last few months. After all, it doesn’t take long for slime and invisible life forms to take over… So give your tank a spring clean with this trio of water hygiene products from German brand, WM Aquatec.

Firstly, use the Dexda Clean chlorine-based disinfectant solution to give the tank a good rinsing out, as this removes biofilm and keeps algae, fungus and bacteria at bay.

Then follow up with the KX Press descaler product. Finally, add the self-dosing ions Silverpad, which keeps water fresh for up to six months. Note that these products may cause corrosion, so shouldn’t be used on metal tanks or boilers. The hygiene trio kit costs £79.90.

Kitsound Immerse Wireless Headphones

If you’re in the market for a new set of headphones then being down with the kids is probably high on the priorities list, so you’ll be pleased to hear that tiny earbuds are no longer fashionable and giant tin cans are all the rage again. Why buy a new set of headphones when you could just dig out your old ones from the 80s, you may ask. Well, modern versions are simply better.

These ones from KitSound feature active noise cancellation technology; essentially, a built-in microphone monitors noise levels outside and creates opposing sound waves to drown out up to 25dB, which results in crystal-clear and uninterrupted sound.

Using Bluetooth, they’re wireless with a range of 10m and offer up to 12 hours of play time, so they’re ideal if you want to listen to the radio or watch a film on your tablet while your other half is snoozing. With memory foam earcups, they’re extremely comfortable to wear, too. The headphones fold up and live in a carry pouch when not in use, and come with a USB charge cable, 3.5mm aux-in cable and in-flight adaptor. Priced at £59.99.

Buy Kitsound Immerse Wireless Headphones from Amazon.
