Romahome R40 - £40,995
THE small R40 is actually rather big by Romahome standards, using one of their own monocoque GRP body shells and continuing their long-standing association with Citroen. The look is ultra-modern, with sleek moulded fittings sporting their radical Espresso trim. The eye-catching monochrome décor is only one of three available options but it has already proved to be popular.
The interior layout provides far more living space than previous Romahome models and importantly, plenty of standing room. The two dinettes can cater for four adults, in a neatly designed seating area which can provide a giant double bed, two comfy singles. A fixed double bed is available above the cab.
The R40 kitchen has highly individual black and white décor, with chunky metallic cupboard handles, wipe-clean splashback, self-closing drawers and doors and a smart metal-lined cutlery tray.
It is equipped with a big 97-litre fridge, a domestic-style Spinflo slot-in cooker, a generous amount of worktop and six wipe-clean lockers.
The rear washroom and shower is a totally leak-proof one-piece GRP moulding - no joints to be resealed and no sealant to age or crack.
Romahome R25 - £30,995
The washroom has a Dometic cassette toilet, a large washbasin (still really the kitchen sink), hot water, and even a shower complete with curtain and tray. The latter is an optional extra, but includes a shower curtain, a vanity locker complete with mirror and upgraded fresh and waste water tanks, doubling the standard size to 70 litres.
The showerhead extends so far that you can use it outside the rear door, for sandy feet or muddy boots.
A Webasto Thermo Top C300 combined heater and boiler runs off the Citroën’s diesel tank, while the compressor fridge is powered from the leisure battery - there are optional solar panels to keep the batteries topped up. To fit in a toilet required a novel solution. Part of the offside kitchen worktop flips up and attaches to the front of the wardrobe.
The doors in front create an open cubicle with only partial privacy, but draw the blind on the rear door’s window, pull the shower curtain across (if you have one) and you have a small washroom/dressing room, complete with wardrobe and washbasin-cum-kitchen-sink.
