OCT Motorhomes of Southwell, Newark

b039331e-aab0-4ac9-b0a2-07044578f64a
If you want to browse a selection of motorhomes in the low to mid price range, there can be few better places to start your search than OCT Motorhomes.

They don’t have a huge sales ground, so that any motorhomes that they put on display will have to be worthy of their place. Their current stock of 28 sees them full to capacity.

Most of the motorhomes are arranged side by side on electrical hook-ups, making them very easy to compare.

Home-Car PR59 - £30,995

inside the home-car pr59 motorhomeThis is an interesting one; OCT have it down as a Lunar, but it was produced during the brief spell when they bought out Home-Car of Belgium and then re-badged some of the Home-Car motorhomes as Lunar.

In fact the colour scheme is the only difference between this PR59 and the Lunar Premier H592.

In my book, this makes it more of a Home-Car than a Lunar, especially as Lunar stopped making motorhomes in 2009 and Home-Car have started up again on their own.

It seems that Lunar still carry spares for their motorhomes and Home-Car are also quite approachable – find contact details on www.homecar-motorhomes.com.

Anyway, back to the plot. Just as I was taking in the stunning interior, a lady stuck her head round the door and said, “Oh no – it’s red”, then went straight on to the next one. It seems you can’t please everybody, but I really couldn’t fault it.

There is no sleeping accommodation for anyone in the two passenger seats, so it’s a case of packing a tent if you really do have to take anybody with you.

You really are spoiled here: you get a fixed double bed with a sprung mattress; underbed storage accessible from inside and out; a washroom with a walk-in shower; a fridge-freezer with a Smev oven/grill on top. It is really quite luxurious and seems completely unmarked.

Auto-Trail Tracker - £19,995

inside the auto-trail trackerThere was no way that I was going to leave this one out.

I regard this version of the Tracker to be far superior to the Ducato based version that succeeded it.

This must surely be one of the best equipped motorhomes of its size and also impossibly roomy. It has a fitted, wind-out canopy, blown air heating, a reversing camera and even a TV is included.

The front passenger seat swivels to face a non-belted rear seat and there is a side facing, two-seater sofa to complete a very accommodating lounge.

Upholstery and interior decoration is carried out to a very high standard throughout, including the fully lined cab roof. The overcab has two layers of storage and you also  have the glass fronted wardrobe, the space under the seating and plentiful cupboards and lockers.

The L-shaped kitchen is really quite incredible and is the equal of those is full-blown family models. A separate washroom completes what is really quite an exceptional package.

Absolutely brilliant - a true bargain.
