Motorhome dealers - Somerset Motorhome Centre

4910dd74-b7d2-488e-a4cb-6fe91021327b
LOCATED on a pleasant site near the village of Thornfalcon, near Taunton, Somerset Motorhome Centre is easily found, being only a couple of miles from from Junction 25 of the M5 motorway.

Situated on the crest of a hill by a busy junction, its magnitude is not at first apparent as the majority of the site is spread out on the slopes of the hill behind the filling station frontage.

On closer acquaintance, the way in which they have managed to squeeze so much into this quite complex site is a source of wonderment.

This is a fairly young business, having only been trading for eighteen months or so. However, the experience packed into this dynamic enterprise makes this an irrelevant statistic. It was founded by Tom Lower and his wife Maria after Tom had spent 21 years at what you might call “the sharp end” of the motorhome Industry.

Additionally, Tom’s associates have a multitude of years of experience between them. Ian Cridland has eleven years experience in the Industry, Simon Ward has eight years and Chris Woods has eleven, so these are no novices at the game. All this has contributed to a phenomenal success that has necessitated expansion of the site to accommodate around fifty pre-owned motorhomes.

The philosophy behind this business is to sell good value for money, good quality motorhomes to the public with an excellent back up service.

Tom and his associates source their vehicles from all over the country and they only go for the best examples, using Tom’s good contacts within the trade.

Once purchased, each vehicle undergoes extensive checks on the mechanical and habitation side, then any faults are rectified and all are given a full service before the vehicles go on sale. Each motorhome is sold with a new MOT, if required, together with a fully comprehensive warranty from the company itself, rather than one purchased from an insurance company.

Somerset Motorhome Centre is always looking for good stock and buys directly from the public, as well as the trade, offering a best price guarantee.

I tramped the site on a grey, damp day, in stark contrast with the recent good weather.  However, I was still impressed by the pleasant ambience they had created, with interesting contours and pockets of landscaping.

I was also extremely impressed by the number and quality of motorhomes packed into this compact site.

The business markets a wide range of vehicles to suit all tastes and I found everything here, from van conversions well into their second decade, costing around £12,000, to one or two-year old examples costing in excess of £40,000.

All were well presented and located with great ingenuity, showing off their best features to the best advantage.

In an industry comprising a large number of national enterprises that sometimes do not meet their service claims, this relatively small outfit is a breath of fresh air. Because of this it has obviously already tasted some success and deserves to go from strength to strength.
