Ballyness Caravan Park

cd63808b-f782-4c8a-be88-3426ac3847eb
Set in delightful countryside just two miles away from the Giant’s Causeway (now a World Heritage site), Ballyness offers 48 touring pitches spread over three landscaped areas. The lower of these overlooks the ponds, while the upper ones are ideally sited for families as they’re closest to the on-site play park.

All the touring pitches are on hardstandings and have electric hook-ups, fresh and waste water connections and are of a decent size. Motorhome owners will be pleased to note that there’s also a service point for draining the waste water tank and filling up with fresh water.

The toilet block is central to all areas and features free hot showers, a disabled shower room, a separate bathroom and baby-changing facilities. There’s also a laundry room and a dishwashing area, as well as a library and board games.

Also on-site is a payphone and internet access point. Surfers will be pleased to note that there is also Wi-Fi (for a modest charge).

All manner of events take place on this section of coast each year, including the North West 200 motorcycle race and the Bushmills Malt Golf tournament (which is said to be the world’s largest amateur golf tournament). Football clubs from around the world also converge on the area to compete in the Milk Cup youth soccer tournament.

There are many festivals held over summer in the area, too, as well as a wide range of attractive pubs and restaurants to sample. Lovers of the malt will be pleased to note that there’s also the Old Bushmills Distillery nearby where you can take a tour (this costs £6 a head).

For something equally relaxing, why not try fishing on the River Bush? Or perhaps try your hand at horse riding at Island Equestrian Centre. Children will undoubtedly enjoy a trip to Finn McCools Adventure Playground at the Dunluce Centre. There’s also a very scenic castle to tramp around at Dunluce Castle.
