Taking flight

Wow! Look at me!

THE Omar designers were given free reign to indulge their imagination and come up with "an absolutely stunning, top-of-the-range home", and Omar is delighted with the result, writes Janet Lumb.

I step inside, and there is a totally different ambience from the run-of-the-mill lodges. The predominant colour is brown - the curtains have brown stripes, even the cushions are brown! Very fashionable, very masculine. In fact, you could say that this whole lodge is one for the boys!

It is also absolutely stuffed full of practical additions, like gas underfloor central heating. The lounge would be at home in a city apartment, with large leather L-shaped sofa in light cream, and chair and footstool to match.

It is often a problem knowing where to put the TV in these lodge layouts, as the abundance of windows don't leave many corners free! Problem solved, and this must be the most expensive item in the lodge - a huge flatscreen TV that glides silently up and down into the fireplace housing at the touch of a switch! This is worth - wait for it! - several thousand pounds.

I liked:

  • All the toys (well, not the bathroom TV!)
  • The easy-to-use kitchen
  • The colour scheme
  • The wallcovering
  • The shower room
  • The solidity of the whole thing.
