New looks at Glasgow

The Aspen is a very classy unit

THERE WAS a significant turnout of park and holiday home producers at the Scottish Caravan and Outdoor Leisure show at Glasgow's SECC from February 2-5.

Among the highlights at Glasgow were the two newest leisure homes from Carlisle-based Reiver Lodges - the Moray and the Tay.

The Moray, a 40ftx20ft double unit, features a spacious en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom, with a sunken bath, complete with moulded seat, and a built-in television. The kitchen seems to have enough floor space for square dancing, while the lounge/diner, too, could accommodate a small Highland gathering.

The Tay is the first of a new generation of single units, a revolutionary recycled cladding system - available in wood-effect, cream or green - and vaulted ceilings. The display model featured a stylish smoked glass dining table with chic leather-effect chairs.

Willerby had some new models on show, such as the New Horizon, and the latest version of its Aspen model, the Mk5.

The New Horizon lounge has a very 'Scandinavian' feel to it, with lots of light-wood-effect. There are patio doors from the lounge/dining area, and the Outlook version of the 37ftx12ft, two-bedroom home also has front patio doors.

The Aspen has been given an interior design makeover in subdued and tasteful chocolates and creams. It is a very classy unit.

So, too, is the restyled Kingfisher from Brentmere, part of the Omar group, which is available in 37ft6inx20ft or 40ftx20ft versions, each with either two or three bedrooms. The kitchen is a cook's heaven, with a five-burner gas hob and plenty of work area, while the master bedroom en suite shower room and the separate bathroom have stylish circular basins on dark wood stands.

It's a very light, airy and desirable leisure lodge, soon to be joined in the Brentmere range by the Avocet. We examine both homes in the April 2006 issue of Park & Holiday Homes.

Advent had its popular Tarragon on display (see the March 2006 issue for our view), but also announced a new single unit lodge, the Saffron, and a restyled version of its Rosemary Lodge.
