Atlas takes top prize for second year

AFTER sweeping to victory last year with its Concept, Atlas Caravans has taken the Caravan Industry Caravan Holiday Home Of The Year award for the second time in the row with its Oakwood Super.

The new model, launched at Hull in September, won the Class A prize for homes costing more than £20,000, and then pipped the Cosalt Monaco Duo, winner of the twin-unit prize, for the overall Holiday Home Of the Year 2007 award.

The Caravan Industry Awards were presented at the International Caravan and Motorhome Show 2006, held at the National Exhibition Centre at Birmingham in October.

The judging took place at The Lawns and Golf Club shows at Cottingham in September and was undertaken by a team of experienced journalists with considerable knowledge of the caravan holiday home industry and products.

The overall winner, the Oakwood Super 39/2 bedroom, is an entirely new 12ft wide design for this season from Atlas Caravan Company. Atlas also won the overall prize last year with the Concept.

Atlas Design Director Barry Paterson said, “We were tempted to put the Concept 2 forward in the Class A category as we thought it could win both that and the overall award.

“But we also had confidence in the new Oakwood range and we’re pleased we decided to nominate the Oakwood Super.”
