THERE are 22 parks under the Best of British banner that have owner-occupied holiday homes (out of 52 sites altogether, including touring parks), and all of them are committed to achieving the highest levels of quality and customer service. To qualify to join Best of British, a park is visited by one of the Directors to ensure the park and its management style fits the quality and service ethos of the group.
On completion of a successful park visit, the park owners are required to agree to follow the Best of British Members’ Charter. This stipulates that member parks adhere to the following principles, among others:
• To give customers that additional special attention in making them welcome on arrival at the park and throughout their stay
• To provide the highest standards of service and facilities possible on their park.
• To offer all visitors a Best of British Brochure on arrival to make them aware of other member parks in the group throughout the UK who are committed to offering a similar level of quality and customer service.
In addition, the park must attain a Five Star grading, the highest level possible, within the British Graded Holiday Parks Scheme, which is administered in Scotland, England and Wales by, or on behalf of, the relevant tourism authorities.
Parks are visited annually by trained, impartial assessors and the star rating awarded, based on cleanliness, environment and the quality of facilities and service provided, reflects the overall quality of the park.
All this explains why Best of British member parks are regular award winners. The latest were Trethem Mill, which took the National Gold ‘Caravan Park of the Year’ title at this year’s EnjoyEngland Excellence Awards, and Poston Mill, which took a Silver award.
