Costa Blanca – A Spanish oasis

fefb96ba-7b02-475e-92e4-e54ea3e53938
CARAVANS in the Sun has added another mobile home park to the range it offers in Spain. Located on the Costa Blanca, a few miles from Torrevieja, the park occupies a commanding position overlooking the surrounding orange groves and the famous ‘salt lake nature reserve’.

Beach lovers will find lots of secluded coves nearby, though they can also enjoy the 11 km of soft sand on the beach at nearby Guardamar del Segura.

The site is terraced, with great views from nearly all the front line mobile home plots – with each terrace having views over the nature reserve and salt lake. The site is an oasis of rubber, eucal-yptus, palm and lilac-flowered jacarandas trees, and you will find Medi-terranean flora, fauna and wildlife in abundance. Many species of birds visit the salt lake and it is not unusual to see flocks of flamingos in the Salinas de la Mays.

This is a park in an idyllic location with a near perfect climate – so if peace and tranquility is what you are after, you need look no further! But it also has top class facilities – two swimming pools open exclusively to home-owners, a fitness studio, shop and a snack bar. The on-site supermarket is open every day and offers a good selection of food and household items as well as freshly baked bread and pastries.

In the local area you will find lots of local markets, the largest being just a few miles down the road in Torrevieja. There is also a great selection of bars and restaurants, either in Torrevieja or one of the local villages.

The park is aimed primarily at home-owners over 55, but family and friends are welcome to visit at any time. Your family can visit or use your mobile home in the summer holidays, at Christmas or any other time and it is not necessary for you to be in residence while they visit, as long as the site guidelines are observed.

The park is open all year and you may stay on site for 10 months altogether. Most of the owners enjoy the autumn and winter sunshine, when it is especially peaceful, and when the family arrives in high season they retreat back home.

Air links to locations close to the static caravan site are served by both Alicante and Murcia/San Javier airports. You will find most of the discount and charter airlines fly there all year round.

CARAVANS IN THE SUN

Caravans in the Sun is part of Mobile Homes Abroad, which started when William and Sue Kay were seeking a holiday apartment, but found the potential costs were more too high. Instead, one one of their trips they noticed an old caravan in a field and decided that might be an alternative.

Eventually they found a BK Bluebird on a parc in the Vendée region of France – but decided to buy two. The homes were moved to a smaller site nearby and advertised for rent for the summer – the start of a business venture William and Sue called European Vacations.

Since then, with new investors Ian and Jayne Ferguson, the business has expanded and Mobile Homes Abroad now offers homes in France, Spain, Portugal, Tenerife, Malta, Morocco and Greece and Florida. It now plans is to buy its own parks in Europe, as well.
