WRC comes to the UK and Caravan's joining in on tour

efedc752-fa8a-4144-a87c-58af57261249

The WRC is set to take over north Wales this weekend, with Caravan magazine and Bailey in hot pursuit

The wonderful Welsh woodland is set to play host to 160 roaring motors racing on tight tracks in a 23-stage tense time trial across the country.

Although the 23 special stages are all ticketed, there are plenty of opportunities for the public to enjoy the thrill of the WRC for free. The opening ceremony in Eirias Stadium and the ceremonial finish in Llandudno are both free, while Newtown offers those in mid-Wales the chance to watch races on a giant screen or to see the cars in the metal on Friday morning.

Rally fans will also have access to the Service Park in Deeside on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to experience the cars being prepped for the race along with some incredible entertainment.Caravan magazine on Facebook

Following the popularity of last year’s event, organisers have increased car parking capacities around the course. Organisers have also re-introduced a dedicated Wales Rally FM radio on 87.7FM to add a further audio experience to the weekend.

This year, Caravan mag staff John Sootheran and Ben Hackney are joining the WRC excitement across the 191 miles in a motorsport-liveried Bailey 550-4 in their latest tour.

Excited about the trip, Caravan magazine managing editor, John Sootheran, said: "I used to go to the 'RAC Rally’ every year, but I haven’t been for a decade, so I’m really looking forward to seeing this amazing spectacle at Wales Rally GB again.

"World Rally Championship really is driving at its balletic best; it defies the laws of physics the way the cars even manage to stay on the road. Staying ‘on route’ in the brilliant Bailey Pursuit motorsport caravan will also make life really easy and, with it’s state-of-the-art Truma heating, it’s certain to provide a warm base to work from in deepest Wales."

It's not the first time Caravan magazine has taken to the track from the comforts of a caravan, as John also toured to the Mighty Mini Championships, in which Bailey sponsor a team (you can watch the video on YouTube here).
