Thousands flock to major show

THOUSANDS of families are expected to visit the UK’s biggest caravan and motorhome show this weekend.

The International Caravan & Motorhome 2007 show opened on Tuesday and has attracted thousands of people throughout the week.

Filling five halls at the NEC in Birmingham, organisers say the show is 20 per cent bigger than any other show of its kind in the UK.

All major manufacturers are represented and it gives visitors the chance to see brand new 2008 caravans for the first time.

AL-KO is using the event to launch its anti-snaking ATC Trailer Control system as an aftermarket fitment and it also hosted a champagne reception to celebrate its 25th anniversary in the UK.

Marketing manager Paul Jones said: “It’s been a good show for us so far and we’ve had a lot of interest in the ATC Trailer Control system. We used the show to raise a glass to our anniversary and our executives from Germany joined us for the celebration.”

Major launches at the show include:

* Bailey’s lightweight two-berth Pageant Majestic 6 and Senator Carolina Series 6

* The new Bavaria range of motorhomes

* Compact new additions to Fleetwood’s luxury Heritage range

* Avondale’s all-new Dart 475-4.

* Michael Jordan Caravans’ two new Expression models, the 560 and the 640.

* Swift’s new Voyager range of multi-berth motorhomes

* New van conversions from Bilbos and Autocruise

Among the 200 exhibitors are dozens of stalls selling a wide range of caravanning accessories plus a tourism area offering dozens of holiday destinations in the UK and Europe.

Admission is £12 (£11 for seniors, children under 15 go FREE)  and tickets are available on the door.

* A full show round-up will be featured in the December issue of Which Caravan, on sale 1 November. To subscribe to the magazine, click here.
