Point your motorhome towards the New Forrest as Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson’s rich maritime history is brought to life in the village where his ships for Trafalgar were built.
Beautiful, unspoilt Buckler’s Hard on the banks of the River Beaulieu – where the famous Vice-Admiral’s favourite ship, HMS Agamemnon, was built – has a great story to tell and throughout the summer Living History characters will take on the roles to enact the unique tales of the people who lived there.Visitors will get the chance to meet Balthazar, the son of the Master Shipbuilder, the Shipwright’s wife Arabella Burlace and follow in the footsteps of Countryfile’s Matt Baker who got into character as a swashbuckling smuggler pirate to discover the Buckler’s Hard Story which inspired a wealth of art, literature and films.
For £10, an annual pass offers unlimited visits to Buckler’s Hard for 12 months from the date of purchase. Pass holders also receive 10% off gifts at the Maritime Museum shop and discounted entry to the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst and St Barbe Museum in Lymington
