Premier Park wins AA Campsite of the Year Awards

f3037801-ed03-47ed-b6c7-604dbcfb03fa

Premier Park, The Old Oaks Touring Park, wins not one, but two AA Campsite of the Year Awards.

The quality touring park and campsite in Glastonbury, Somerset, which has also been visited and rated by our editorial team, has now been awarded AA Campsite of the Year for England and overall Campsite of the Year for England, Scotland and Wales in 2013.

The Old Oaks has been part of our collection of the finest touring parks - Premier Parks - for two seasons and we are delighted to be able to announce the awards which they have just received from the AA. Their awards recognise exceptional standards of customer service and presentation, and owners Jim, Sally, James and Tara White said they were thrilled to receive them.

Of the double award, AA Inspector Colin Church said: 'When I visited The Old Oaks this year, I realised I was inspecting a park which was quite exceptional in so many ways and its attention to detail was second to none'. Colin added that The Old Oaks' score is likely to be the highest achieved sine the AA introduced Campsite of the Year six years ago.

The five-star adult only touring park and campsite is laid out into six landscaped paddocks over ten acres of Somerset countryside, most with panoramic views towards the Mendip Hills. A well-stocked fishing lake on site is a haven for wildlife with views of Glastonbury Tor, which is less than a mile from the campsite.

Last July, The Old Oaks celebrated the opening of its Middle Oaks amenities building. As a campsite which takes environmental conservation very seriously, this building is state of the art with its 'green' credentials. The Old Oaks has just received its 13th David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award, along with David Bellamy's personal Award of Special Distinction for the care, attention and investment in making the amenities building as 'green' as possible.

The Middle Oaks facilities consist of a large foyer, seven spacious unisex shower cubicles with wet-room style shower, hand basin, mirror, hand drier and toilet. There's a large accessible suite for guests with special needs and additional showers, wash basins and toilets in separate ladies and gents areas. Additional thoughtful touches include a separate make-up area with mirrors and electrical sockets for hair care equipment, plus a dedicated washing machine for pet bedding and blankets in the laundry.

The Old Oaks opens for the 2013 season on 8 February, with pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents, along with cosy camping cabins for hire. For more information visit www.theoldoaks.co.uk
