Newlyweds say "I do" to caravanning honeymoon

Basingstoke newlyweds Chris and Linda Pearse decided on a surprise guest of honour at their ceremony – a brand new Coachman VIP caravan.

The couple, who have been together for 20 years, decided to tie the knot in a celebration of their anniversary, deciding that their new Coachman should be parked in pride of place at the wedding venue, ready to whisk them off on their caravanning honeymoon.

Linda said: “To celebrate being together these past 20 years we decided to get married and what could be more appropriate than to park our new van at the wedding venue, all loaded up for the bride and groom to depart for their first night of marriage and first night in the new van?”

The couple has also been caravanning for the two-decade period, after beginning their touring career with a van that had no hot water, carpets or toilet. After trying out a number of different options over the years, Chris and Linda gave Coachman a go in 2005.

Linda continued: “We bought our first VIP 460-2 from Chichester Caravans in May 2005 and experienced bliss from day one.

“After 549 nights on board and towing from Land’s End to John O’Groats with the van still good as new, we read about the 2012 editions. We traded in at Tilshead Caravans in November 2011 and took delivery of our new VIP 460-2 in February 2012.

“The new van is bliss – we are avid walkers and coming back to a nice warm van, having a hot shower and then preparing a meal in such a lovely, spacious kitchen area is simply the bee’s knees!”
