New lightweight caravans from Lunar - NEC Show launch

LUNAR'S two new family caravans both give buyers layouts not seen anywhere else in British manufacture.

The five-berth addition to the Lexon range is a unique layout. And the four-berth Q464 is modelled on a layout we used to see but fell out of fashion.

Now it’s back – and it’s so good that Go Caravan believes it should never have disappeared. The Quasar 464, priced £14,595, has a two-seater dining table across the rear.

This area converts into a single bed with a pull-up bunk above. Lunar has brought this once-classic layout up into 2011 by giving it a separate shower in the central offside washroom, something never seen in caravans when this layout was previously popular.

The Lexon 550’s unique layout creates a large dining area in the centre, on the offside. There’s space for four children to sit here – and just about enough width for it to serve as a breakfast area for adults.

Two fixed bunks are located in the nearside rear corner.

The 550, priced at  £17,695 has two large wardrobes, one above the heater between the lounge and the dining area, and another at the back, spanning the distance between the bunks and the shower room.

Both models have the AL-KO ATC stability control system as an optional extra, at a cost of £479. This safety feature is standard on Lunar’s higher-priced Deltas and Clubmans.

The Lexon 550’s shower shares its room with the toilet but there’s a plastic screen to confine the water. Six shelves surround a mirror in the small room. The washbasin is its own area just forward of the shower.
