New CCC site opens

The newest site in the Camping and Caravanning Club’s franchise scheme has been officially opened.

Mayor of Bath and Wells, Councillor Simon Davies , and Club chairman David Batty both made the trip to the new Cheddar Gorge site to mark its opening and its new status as a Camping and Caravanning Club site.

The 90-pitch site in the Mendip Hills was bought by Kate and Alan Sefton under the Club’s franchise scheme, and the couple have made significant changes to bring the site up to standard. The site has been completely refurbished, and they have added 37 new hardstandings as well as solar low level lighting. In addition guests can enjoy the fresh bread and pastry that Kate and Alan bake themselves, and the local produce from the on site shop.

Franchisee Kate said: “It hasn’t been easy setting up and getting to grips with running the site, but we opened to the public in March and since then we’ve invested in the site to make it better for campers and easier for us to manage.

“We delayed the official opening so that we could get all our refurbishments complete and the site running smoothly.”

She added that the venture had been a great success, and that site occupancy has doubled since they took over.
