New American caravan arrives in Britain

A range of American-built caravan with slide-out sides is to be imported to Britain. The range is called The Edge.

There will be three models, all with headroom of 2.13m (7 feet). They will have both fresh and waste water tanks.

Running gear will be AL-KO; the axles are made by Winterhoff. Prices will be from £28,794 to £31,194. Weights range from 1994kg MTPLM to 2222kg MTPLM. Specification will include an electrically-operated roll-out canopy, air conditioning and “entertainment centre” with speakers on the exterior of the caravan.

All three models will have fixed beds and dining areas which slide out from the offside, creating extra space in the centre of the caravan.

The first model to arrive in Britain is the Edge M22, with an extra large island bed in the fore-end and two fixed bunks in the rear offside corner. It was unveiled at the February Boat and Caravan Show at the NEC. The MRO of this model is 1673kg; with a payload of 549kg, its MTPLM is 2222kg.
