The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, has successfully achieved the world record for Longest Line of Toy Cars, while also raising over £2000 for charity.

Volunteers took 10 hours to lay the line of more than 24,000 toy cars. These were donated for the task and officially recognised by Guinness World Records as beating the previousCaravan magazine on Facebook number of 14,310 set last year.

The record-breaking line snaked 1.91km around the museum and grounds, featuring models signed by celebs such as Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, and TV presenters Quentin Wilson, Vicki Butler-Henderson and Edd China.

Racing legend Sir Stirling Moss donated a model of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR from 1955, while signed models of Bloodhound SSC and Thrust SSC were donated by Land Speed Record breakers Wing Commander Andy Green OBE and Richard Noble OBE.

The last chances to buy your favourite models from the record achievement will be at the Custom & Hot Road Festival on Father’s Day (June 15), the Supercar Showdown (bank holiday Monday, August 25) and the International Autojumble (September 6/7).

All sales raise more money for Naomi House children's hospice.

Andy Ollerenshaw, from Beaulieu’s Events team, said: “It’s wonderful news. We can celebrate now that we know the World Record has been officially confirmed.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the response from members of the public who donated cars, visitors on the day and now supporters who are buying the cars to raise money for Naomi House hospice. It’s exceeded our wildest expectations and is hugely exciting, as it’s something we’ve never done before at Beaulieu.”
