Meet the Jacksons. They entered to win a caravan and won!

There are some caravan competitions that come along once in a blue moon, if not a lifetime. Winning them is bigger than anything you could have expected when filling in a humble entry form.

This is exactly the case with the Jacksons, who entered to win a new Bailey Ancona caravan with Truma UK, not expecting to have anywhere near as much luck as they have had.

Emma told us: "We only went to look for accessories for our tent, to take to France. We heard via email from the NEC about the competition Truma were running. We made sure to make time during the visit to go over and enter it. Stephen even joked all the way down to Birmingham 'We’re going to win a caravan! We’ve got to get over to the Truma stand because I’m off to win a caravan!'"

Read more about their incredible experience below, and see the Summer issue of Caravan magazine for the full interview.

What are your touring plans for your first trip away?

Stephen: Quite local for our first trip, maybe Knaresborough, to test it out, and our second trip we have been invited down to the Truma site in south Derbyshire for a free weekend stay, packed with activities aimed at kids in support of the National Camping & Caravanning Week. Then, in August, we are going to France. We have extended our trip to bring the caravan and visit many more places before finishing in Biarritz.

How do you feel overall, following this big news?

Emma: We just could not believe it when Martin from Truma rang us that day… we were in separate rooms all night calling every Tom, Dick and Harry, telling them the amazing news.

We’ve never won anything in our lives, and to be fair it was better than winning the lottery because you couldn’t have given us anything better. It was something we actually wanted; it’s just perfect and there’s nothing we would ever want to change.

Who would be your four perfect dinner guests in the caravan?

Stephen: Well, this is a rather bizarre combination of dinner guests: Jasmine selected her dinner guest as Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast; Bella selected the Queen, as she is the most important person in the world; Emma selected Sir David Jason as she loves A Touch of Frost; and I picked Lee Evans to entertain us while we have a beer!

How will you share out the chores when you go caravanning?

Stephen: The jobs will be shared, although I’m sure I will have the toilet-emptying duty!

What's your fave Truma addition, and why?

Stephen: The battle for the best Truma addition is between the air-con unit and the motor mover.

The air conditioning unit will most certainly come in useful for our trips to the South of France in the summer; it means we don’t have to visit the supermarket chiller aisle to cool down now!

However, we feel the motor mover will also be amazing; as our driveway at home is quite tight and we won’t be able to tow the caravan onto it with our car.
