Management buy-out puts Lunar under new ownership

LUNAR Caravans is back under British ownership following a management buy-out of the company.

The Preston-based manufacturer of touring caravans and motorhomes today confirmed that negotiations had ended and a buy-out was now complete.

The deal comes soon after Lunar’s Dutch owners, Tirus, filed for bankruptcy for six of its companies though its British sudsidiary continued to trade as normal.

Lunar’s Managing Director Brian Mellor has spent several months working on the buy-out and said final negotiations were complicated by the collapse of Tirus.

He said: We would like to reassure all of our employees, customers, retailers, and suppliers that it is ‘business as usual’.

“Lunar Caravans Limited is a profitable business, we have a full order book and we have no debts. We have an exceptional team, excellent workforce, strong distribution network with loyal customers and a superb product in both the caravan and motorhome markets.”

The other directors within the buy out team include Andrew Mead (Finance Director), Martin Henderson (Sales and Marketing Director) and Ken Lawrence (Purchasing Director).

Its caravan range includes Zenith, Ariva, Stellar, Quasar, Lexon, Clubman and Delta and motorhomes are the Xstar, Telstar Fivestar, Moonstar, Goldstar and the luxury Roadstar range.

The company also imports touring caravans and motorhomes from its sister companies and bosses say they will announce plans for these brands shortly.
