How to get the best deal at the NEC

53c29b18-61f0-437d-b495-3bd3b74a9363

It's not often that you get the entire industry in one place. When it comes to caravans for sale, it's usually a case of heading at least a few miles down the road to ask the same questions and often get similar answers. At a huge event like the Motorhome and Caravan Show, however, the all-encompassing NEC plays host to a bartering ground of epic proportions, meaning you can get the best deals with ease!

Whether it's discovering dealer special extras or those all-important bits of kit that are tagged onto the deal when you're buying a new model, the show is the place to purchase. Here's why...

Compare products easily

You're looking at the Bailey stand, and there are a couple of models you've had your eye on. Yet, you still quite like that Swift range that your friend told you about. Look over your shoulder, they're all there!

You can take a few short steps from stand to stand and see everything that the manufacturer has on offer. No more of the "they'll be due in next week" or "it's similar to this, but not quite the same." Every model that you need to see will be at the NEC. What more could you ask for?

Try before you buy

This is as close as you can get to trying a caravan before you buy, which means that you can spend a considerable amount of time in each model, thinking about how its layout and functionality will affect you. This is particularly great for kids. It's hard for them to get an idea of what a caravan is like from the website or from a brochure. Get them in there, get them exploring and get them explaining what they think is good and bad. It's family fun and functional at the same time.

Everyone's there

At your local dealer, there's little chance of getting any face time with the top bods of a caravan manufacturer. At a show, however, you'll rub shoulders with dealers and directors alike, and they're all up for a chinwag when it comes to helping you find the perfect tourer.

See the accessories in action

It doesn't matter whether you're after an awning, motormover, or a new set of plastic plates, accessory shops at the show have endless discounts and BOGOF offers for you to peruse. Not only that, but you'll get a lot more of a hands on experience than most usual outlets, with many stands giving you the chance to put each product into a practical test to really see how it works.

It's a social event, too

It's not just the paperwork and industry people you can get advice on caravans from, there are thousands of like-minded fans of touring on hand to talk to and discuss pros and cons with, should you wish. One interesting thing to do is sit in a model you like the look of and simply listen. The next few couples and families who venture in for a look will be sure to offer some insight into a particular aspect of caravanning you perhaps hadn't thought of.

What else?

The show is on for the week, meaning that you can go away, have a think and sleep on it, knowing that you can return and see each model in all its glory again before you design to spend your heard earned.

Now all you've got to do is decide which day(s) you're heading to Birmingham!

Advance tickets are still on sale from £7.50 for seniors and £8.50 for adults. Tickets on the door are priced £11 for seniors and £12 for adults.
