Forthcoming events at Kielder Water & Forest Park

Kielder Water & Forest Park, home to Northern Europe's largest man-made lake and the largest working forest in England, brings nature and the great outdoors to you on a massive scale.

With three visitor centres, forest trails, watersports and outdoor activities there is always something exciting going on for people who visit. We've chosen a few of our favourites below.

Public Observing night at Kielder Observatory

Learn about Kielder's incredible dark skies. Experts will be on hand to guide you around the sky and help you use the observatory's telescopes or bring your own. Age 10+.
Time: 8pm-11pm.
Costs: Adults £11, concessions £8, family £30.

When: Every Wednesday throughout May - July.

Survival & Bushcraft courses

Discover the basics of outdoor survival, shelter building, fire starting, food prep and cooking and natural navigation. All courses are hands on and you can choose between an 8-hour or 24-hour session.
Costs: £85 for 8 hours, £160 for 24 hours.

Kielder Classic & Vintage Vehicle Show

See vintage tractors, classic cars and motorbikes at this annual show (now in its seventh year) at Kielder Castle Visitor Centre.
Time: 10.30am-4pm
Costs: £4 all day parking charge.

When: Sunday 12 May.

Wild Food Walk

Find out what is edible in the forest or not, and what you can do with it. Age 13+ accompanied by an adult. Meet at Kielder Castle, pre-booking not required.
Time: 2pm-4pm.
Cost: £6 per person.
When: Sunday 19 May.

Water Day at Calvert Trust Kielder

Try your hand at canoeing or kayaking in the stunning Kielder Water. Age 5+.
Time: Any time between 10am and 4pm.
Cost: £10 per person for a half hour session.

When: Every Monday throughout July.

High Ropes Day at Calvert Trust Kielder

Tackle the hanging cargo net, sprint along the swinging logs and cross the balancing beams. Be brave, take the leap of faith! Age 5+.
Time: Any time between 10am and 4pm.
Cost: £10 per person per circuit.
Call: 01434 250232 (booking not required).
When: Every Wednesday throughout July.
