Imagine venturing out to browse caravans for sale at your local dealership to find something altogether more unusual and entertaining. The Bristol-based manufacturer has had a hand in giving Cosford Caravans a little something extra for its dealership forecourt.Caravan magazine on Facebook

Bailey has built a made-to-measure ‘catavan’ to house a stray found at Cosford Caravans in Albrighton, Wolverhampton.

The female feline, named Cat, wandered onto the dealership five years ago where the staff took a shine to her, feeding the intruder on a daily basis. Recently, managing director of Cosford Caravans, Mervyn Hughes, was in a meeting with MD of Bailey Caravans, Nick Howard, when the cat strolled past.

Nick enquired about the mysterious moggy and where she slept, being told that she often dozed on chairs in the showroom during the day but was always put out at night. However, Nick kept the plans to build the tortoiseshell’s tourer a secret until turned up on the doorstep.

“Two weeks later, much to our amazement, a miniature Bailey Orion caravan arrived at our Newport Road site, purpose-built by the Bailey engineers in Bristol especially for our cat,” explains Mervyn. “In my 28 years here at Cosford, I have never seen anything quite like it.

“When the caravan first arrived it was a shock. Nobody from Bailey had mentioned it and I was surprised they could design and make it in such a short time. Almost all our customers ask where the cat is if she’s not about, and I’ve already been asked if the cat caravans are available to buy.”

Simon Howard, marketing director for Bailey, said: “Cat introduced herself to us on one of our regular sales visits to Cosford Caravans. When Mervyn Hughes explained who she was and how she had adopted the site as her home, we decided to build her some bespoke accommodation. The ‘catavan’ certainly seems to have been a big hit both with its new owner and visitors to the depot.”

Caravan awaits the full release of these tiny tourers for your pets with new ranges of the Bailey Olympussy, Pegasus Rimeowni, Unicorn Barkelona and Unicorn Howlmeria.
